CNPC Sport, 2022 “Ski Sales Technician” training session » PACA economic and political newsletter

The 2022 session of the CNPC Sport “Ski sales technician” training will start on October 11 and 12, respectively in Pralognan and Pau.

Each upcoming ski season offers new job opportunities in the field of sliding sports. Since 1992, CNPC Sport has been training technical ski advisors (or Skiman/Skiwoman) with professional skills expected by sports brands established in mountain resorts. This year again, its certifying training program under a professionalization contract, “Sliding Sports Technical Advisor”, will allow 200 hobbyists or job seekers to gain commercial knowledge and technical skiing/snowboarding expertise. They will work at a ski resort. Classes start on October 11 in Pralognan-la-Vanoise (Alps) and October 12 in Pau (Pyrenees).

A technical and commercial qualification dedicated to winter sliding sports

The “Technical Sliding Sports Advisors” training offered by CNPC Sport allows students to acquire two sets of skills:

Sales, commercial animation and management of the winter sports department of a store,

Preparation and maintenance of ski and snowboard equipment.

The training leads to the profession of technical ski adviser, usually called Skiman/Skiwoman. Its missions within a store are to provide maintenance, repair and rental of winter sports equipment, but also to provide advice and sales on all winter sports items. The certification, the training is accompanied by the RNCP Level 4 title “Sales Technician Sports Products Option Sports De Glisse”.
There is paid work and employer-sponsored training

Training offered under a professionalization contract is fully paid for by the employer, who pays the student-trainees for its entire duration (including school time). It is divided into two periods:

7 weeks of lessons (October and November) given at one of the two CNPC Sport sites serving the Pyrenees, Alps and Massif Central mountains: the Pau campus and a dedicated site in Pralognan.

4 months in business (December to April) in sports shops in ski resorts.

Training at the heart of experts and innovations in the sector

The speakers providing the training are all experts from the sector. Some classrooms incorporate technical workshops to allow theoretical knowledge to be put into practice. More than 20 partner brands from the world of mountain sports present their latest equipment in showrooms, offering students the opportunity to discover the latest innovations and products. 2,000 pairs of skis/snowboards and 25 professional waxing, sharpening and repair machines are available to them for on-the-job training. Camille Michel-Cura, who followed the Skiman/Skiwoman training in 2021, emphasizes the comprehensive aspect of the lessons given:

“The training is not limited to the manual aspect. Along with learning in the workshop, we have lessons on the history of skiing, on safety and presentations of the equipment of the brands. It is more useful because some student has never skied before. From now on, I work seasonally, at EKOSPORT in Grenoble. »

Since its creation in 1992, the “sports technical advisors” training course has graduated 6,600 students from all options (skiing, cycling, running, racket sports). Among them, 2600 are in the world of sliding sports.
