French Cup (7th round). AG Plouvorn (R1) – Sable FC (N3), Sunday (2:30 pm)

“We were a hungry team,” recalled Nicolas Seach, Plouvorn goalkeeper during the victory over Stade Brestois in the 7th round of the Coupe de France in 2002. AGP to create victory, despite an unfavorable that scenario. Leading the score before half time and then reduced to ten at the start of extra time, the Plouvornéens held on until the penalty shootout, ending the four divisions separating the two teams. “We could have even benefited from a penalty at the end of the match, but the referee didn’t blow his whistle”, explains Nicolas Seach. “But we didn’t give up. We are more united. I said to myself: “We will never concede a goal”. In overtime, we suffered a lot but always had a leg to fight back. »

The goalkeeper, who was only 20 years old at the time, was one of the heroes of the match by deflecting a shot on goal from Ludovic Pallier. “They were almost all hit on my right, so I didn’t want to switch sides, and it worked! »

“I realized success the next day”

“The public was pushing, the atmosphere was incredible”, recalls Nicolas Seach. “It’s a great emotion, especially Stade Brestois is the team I support. I went to see them every weekend so the players, we know them. Notable were Olivier Bogaczyk up front and Fred Cado in the cages. He also came to congratulate me at the end of the match, while the other players hurried back to the locker room.

The love story between Plouvorn and the Coupe de France, born four years ago with the 7th round contested against En Avant Guingamp, then lived an important new chapter after the first qualification for the 8th round. “I really realized the success when I saw the front page of the Télégramme the next day: “The colossi of Plouvorn””, commented Nicolas Seach. “And the proof is, 20 years later, we’re still talking about it”.

Four qualification for the 8th round

Beaten by Carquefou (N3, 2-4) in the next round, the 2002 generation of Avant-Garde de Plouvorn paved the way for other epics in the Coupe de France. Since then, the Finistère club has reached the 8th round three times: in 2006 against Vitré (N3, 0-1 ap), in 2009 against GSI Pontivy (1-6) and in 2014 against Le Poiré- sur-Vie (National , 1-2). He also went down with honor against CA Bastia in 2013 (1-1, 4-5 on tab) in the 7th round.

Nicolas Seach was part of the AGP workforce in these four meetings, he who, like a wink, played his first match with the first team of Plouvorn at the age of 18, against Laval (D2, 0-6), in a match of the … Coupe de France (7th round in 2000). “There is no photo, but even though I took six, it’s still a good memory,” said the concerned. And this experience served before facing the Stade Brestois. »

The one who retired last season at Berven-Plouzévédé remains a loyal follower of AG Plouvorn, with whom he played for twenty seasons. “Notably I played with Argan Hilarion, Romain Le Traon, Geoffrey Coquil and Thomas Loaec, who are still in the team. I went with them in the previous round and they impressed me”.

Sunday, against Sable FC, a club playing in a division above, AGP will aim for a fifth qualification for an 8th round of the Coupe de France. Nicolas Seach can still see. “All I want is for them to finally reach the 32nd round (9th round). At the time, we said: “It takes two exploits to face a Ligue 1”. Hopefully the first one will be on Sunday…”
